Five years ago a blog by an assistant professor would be anathema to the tenure and promotion committee. “Time that could have been spent researching.” It was considered an activity that diverted energy from research and publishing in journals. Today such a worldview seems quaint. Blogging has grown up–no longer a rarely viewed corner of the web. It has become a primary vehicle to disseminate research finding and ideas. A way that complements (if not supplants) the 8 to 18 month (!) journal publication process.

So, this is my blog–dedicated to agricultural production and policy. Although I will occasionally post other random miscellanea. Enjoy!
